New field installations for the DRYLAND project: shallow groundwater wells and lysimeters

The established network of wells and lysimeters in the Molières Valley will track shallow groundwater chemistry in peatland and mineral soils as part of the DRYLAND project.

As part of the DRYLAND project, two networks of monitoring wells and lysimeters have been installed in the lower Molières Valley (Alta Ribagorça, Lleida), in collaboration with Pilar Llorens and Jérôme Latron from IDAEA’s Surface Hydrology Group. One network is located in a peatland plot and the other in a mineral soil plot.

The networks will support monthly and event-based sampling to track changes in shallow groundwater chemistry, providing insights into its variability over time and across these two contrasting environments.
