Treballar en entorns remots d&#8217;aigua dol\u00e7a, on la influ\u00e8ncia humana directa \u00e9s m\u00ednima, ens permet detectar senyals ambientals que proporcionen indicadors clars i sensibles del canvi global. <\/p><p>Al centre del nostre enfocament hi ha el <strong>monitoratge ecol\u00f2gic a llarg termini<\/strong>, que serveix com a marc essencial per detectar, quantificar i interpretar el canvi ambiental. Aquestes mesures in situ es complementen amb m\u00e8todes avan\u00e7ats de teledetecci\u00f3 i observacions amb c\u00e0meres fenol\u00f2giques (o fenoc\u00e0meres), que permeten un monitoratge detallat de la cobertura de neu i la din\u00e0mica de la vegetaci\u00f3 a les nostres conques d&#8217;estudi. Mesurem com els esdeveniments meteorol\u00f2gics extrems cada cop m\u00e9s freq\u00fcents i intensos\u2014especialment les sequeres\u2014alteren la transfer\u00e8ncia, el cicle i el dest\u00ed aig\u00fces avall dels elements biogeoqu\u00edmics clau al llarg del continu paisatg\u00edstic (des dels s\u00f2ls fins a les aig\u00fces aig\u00fces avall) en les conques d&#8217;alta muntanya. Estudiem com la reducci\u00f3 de la capa de neu i l&#8217;augment de la congelaci\u00f3 del s\u00f2l durant l&#8217;hivern afectaran els processos del s\u00f2l i dels ecosistemes aqu\u00e0tics al llarg de les estacions. Aquests registres mostren canvis notables en el clima i en la variabilitat del clima durant les darreres d\u00e8cades. La resposta dels ecosistemes a aquests canvis no ha estat ni simple ni lineal, sin\u00f3 que sorgeix de respostes acumulatives a din\u00e0miques clim\u00e0tiques que operen en m\u00faltiples escales ambiental global \u00e9s l&#8217;alteraci\u00f3 dels fluxos atmosf\u00e8rics d&#8217;elements qu\u00edmics. Les regions d&#8217;alta muntanya actuen com a &#8220;dits freds&#8221;, concentrant la deposici\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica de sofre, nitrogen, microcontaminants org\u00e0nics, oligoelements, metalls i metal\u00b7loides, cosa que ha creat un llegat a llarg termini de contaminaci\u00f3 antropog\u00e8nica a les seves conques i sistemes aqu\u00e0tics. Tot i que alguns inputs tenen origen natural, com la pols transportada des de regions \u00e0rides i des\u00e8rtiques a trav\u00e9s dels oceans, molts s&#8217;intensifiquen per les activitats humanes. Les emissions industrials, la combusti\u00f3 de combustibles f\u00f2ssils, l&#8217;agricultura intensiva i la combusti\u00f3 de biomassa han augmentat molt la c\u00e0rrega atmosf\u00e8rica de nitrogen reactiu, compostos de sofre, metalls tra\u00e7a i contaminants org\u00e0nics. Aquests contaminants es transporten a llargues dist\u00e0ncies i es dipositen fins i tot en conques muntanyoses remotes, alterant l&#8217;equilibri qu\u00edmic dels s\u00f2ls, les aig\u00fces i la biota. A m\u00e9s, els canvis clim\u00e0tics en la temperatura, els patrons de precipitaci\u00f3 i la din\u00e0mica de la neu modulen encara m\u00e9s la diposici\u00f3 i remobilitzaci\u00f3 d&#8217;aquestes subst\u00e0ncies, amplificant-ne els impactes ecol\u00f2gics i biogeoqu\u00edmics.     <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8282edd elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"8282edd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"291\" height=\"388\" src=\"https:\/\/loopweb.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Atmospheric-chemistry-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-1368\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0c091c5 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0c091c5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Estudiem com responen els llacs i rierols als canvis en la qu\u00edmica de l&#8217;atmosfera, especialment a la disminuci\u00f3 de la contaminaci\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica provocada per les restriccions federals sobre les emissions. Abans que s&#8217;introdu\u00efssin restriccions d&#8217;emissions, els paisatges pirinencs estaven exposats a la pluja \u00e0cida que lliurava compostos de sofre i nitrogen als seus s\u00f2ls i aig\u00fces. Aquests inputs \u00e0cids van esgotar el calci i altres nutrients essencials i van augmentar la mobilitat de metalls t\u00f2xics com l&#8217;alumini. Com a resultat, l&#8217;acidificaci\u00f3 aqu\u00e0tica va provocar desequilibris nutricionals generalitzats a la zona i <a href=\"https:\/\/loopweb.org\/loopweb2018\/index.php\/loopblog\/100-publication\/93-atmospheric-phosphorus-deposition-may-cause-lakes-to-revert-from-phosphorus-limitation-back-to-nitrogen-limitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-fpl-component=\"primitive\">canvis en el patr\u00f3 de limitaci\u00f3 ecol\u00f2gica de nutrients als llacs<\/a>. Tamb\u00e9 estudiem l&#8217;her\u00e8ncia de la pluja \u00e0cida en processos aqu\u00e0tics dels ecosistemes com la productivitat o l&#8217;estructura microbiana, i estudiem els efectes interactius de la recuperaci\u00f3 de la pluja \u00e0cida sota l&#8217;estr\u00e8s del canvi clim\u00e0tic. Finalment, estudiem com els despla\u00e7aments indu\u00efts per la pols en la quantitat i estequiometria de nutrients i contaminants dissolts importats a les conques hidrogr\u00e0fiques d&#8217;alta muntanya provoquen alteracions biogeoqu\u00edmiques de llacs i rierols.     <\/p><p>Els paisatges pirinencs van patir d\u00e8cades de pluges \u00e0cides moderades, que van eliminar el calci i altres nutrients clau dels s\u00f2ls forestals. Estudiem l&#8217;her\u00e8ncia de la pluja \u00e0cida en processos forestals com el creixement de la vegetaci\u00f3, i estudiem els efectes interactius de la recuperaci\u00f3 de la pluja \u00e0cida sota els factors d&#8217;estr\u00e8s del canvi clim\u00e0tic. Els boscos de Hubbard Brook tamb\u00e9 es veuen afectats per l&#8217;augment del di\u00f2xid de carboni i altres gasos d&#8217;efecte hivernacle a l&#8217;atmosfera i pels canvis en la deposici\u00f3 Els sediments del llac arxiven informaci\u00f3 ambiental i ecol\u00f2gica molt m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 dels l\u00edmits del llac. En el context actual del canvi global, els sediments dels llacs de muntanya contenen una informaci\u00f3 inestimable sobre els canvis postindustrials que es pot comparar amb intervals primerencs, previs a la pertorbaci\u00f3. Les reconstruccions paleol\u00edmniques ens permeten estendre les nostres observacions contempor\u00e0nies enrere en el temps i ofereixen una refer\u00e8ncia per avaluar la import\u00e0ncia dels canvis actuals. A m\u00e9s, els arxius de sediments ofereixen una visi\u00f3 a llarg termini de la din\u00e0mica ecol\u00f2gica que no es pot capturar en s\u00e8ries d&#8217;observaci\u00f3. Com que la natura mai no segueix el mateix cam\u00ed dues vegades, el canvi a llarg termini \u00e9s m\u00e9s gran que la suma de les fluctuacions a curt termini. Diversos nuclis recuperats de diferents llacs ens han perm\u00e8s reconstruir el clima hivernal durant l&#8217;Holoc\u00e8 i una contaminaci\u00f3 per plom datada fa uns mil\u00b7lennis. Malgrat la seva mida microsc\u00f2pica, aquests organismes tenen un paper fonamental en el cicle de nutrients, la purificaci\u00f3 de l&#8217;aigua i la regulaci\u00f3 de la productivitat dels ecosistemes. Es presta especial atenci\u00f3 a les comunitats planct\u00f2niques i bent\u00f2niques, incloent-hi cianobacteris i altres fotoaut\u00f2trofs que impulsen la producci\u00f3 prim\u00e0ria en aquests ecosistemes. Les seves interaccions amb altres microorganismes i amb nivells tr\u00f2fics m\u00e9s alts proporcionen coneixements essencials sobre la resili\u00e8ncia dels ecosistemes i retroalimentacions al canvi global. En diverses conques experimentals dels Pirineus Centrals, monitoritzem variables biogeoqu\u00edmiques i de biodiversitat clau en la deposici\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica, llacs i rierols, complementats per mesures detallades i experiments que ajuden a desxifrar els mecanismes que impulsen aquestes respostes dels ecosistemes.   <\/p><p>Tamb\u00e9 aprofitem tecnologies de sensors d&#8217;avantguarda per captar els mecanismes r\u00e0pids i no lineals que governen la transfer\u00e8ncia, el cicle i el dest\u00ed d&#8217;aquests elements biogeoqu\u00edmics clau a tot el paisatge. Desplegant sensors ambientals d&#8217;alta freq\u00fc\u00e8ncia a trav\u00e9s de gradients espacials en les nostres conques experimentals, estudiem quins esdeveniments i ubicacions exerceixen la major influ\u00e8ncia en aquesta modulaci\u00f3 i, finalment, en els fluxos i el dest\u00ed dels elements biogeoqu\u00edmics a les conques hidrogr\u00e0fiques de muntanya. <\/p><p>Utilitzem is\u00f2tops d&#8217;aigua (deuteri, triti i \u00b9\u2078O) per determinar l'&#8221;edat&#8221; de l&#8217;aigua, o temps mitj\u00e0 de resid\u00e8ncia (MRT) \u2014 el temps mitj\u00e0 que l&#8217;aigua passa en una conca des de la seva diposici\u00f3 com a pluja o neu. Comprendre l&#8217;edat de l&#8217;aigua i els camins de flux proporciona un context essencial per interpretar la conca i la biogeoqu\u00edmica aqu\u00e0tica, ja que el temps de resid\u00e8ncia hidrol\u00f2gica regula el transport i la transformaci\u00f3 de nutrients, carboni i elements tra\u00e7a dins dels ecosistemes muntanyosos. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div districte dels llacs Pirineus, que acull m\u00e9s d'un miler de llacs d'alta muntanya influ\u00efts per diversos tipus de roca mare, climes i pendents altitudinals pronunciats. Aquesta diversitat modela el funcionament dels llacs, i les prospeccions a llarg termini mostren com l'escalfament clim\u00e0tic i la deposici\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica estan alterant els seus ecosistemes. <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5091822 elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5091822\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Els Pirineus acullen una regi\u00f3 lacustre remarcable que cont\u00e9 poc m\u00e9s de mil llacs d&#8217;alta muntanya de m\u00e9s de 0,5 hect\u00e0rees, aproximadament la meitat dels quals es troben a cada costat de la serralada. Aquest laboratori natural abasta una sorprenent diversitat geol\u00f2gica i clim\u00e0tica: els llacs es troben sobre roques de granit, pissarra, esquist, calc\u00e0ria i origen volc\u00e0nic, cadascun aportant signatures qu\u00edmiques distintives a les aig\u00fces. La regi\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 es troba en una cru\u00eflla clim\u00e0tica: les conques occidentals estan influenciades pel r\u00e8gim atl\u00e0ntic humit, mentre que les orientals experimenten condicions mediterr\u00e0nies m\u00e9s fortes.  <br><br>A m\u00e9s d&#8217;aquest contrast est-oest, els llacs es distribueixen al llarg d&#8217;un gradient altitudinal d&#8217;uns 1.600 fins a gaireb\u00e9 3.000 metres sobre el nivell del mar, amplificant encara m\u00e9s la variaci\u00f3 en la temperatura, la cobertura de gel i la productivitat biol\u00f2gica. Aquests gradients en litologia, clima i altitud modelen col\u00b7lectivament les caracter\u00edstiques f\u00edsiques, qu\u00edmiques i biol\u00f2giques dels llacs pirinencs, produint un mosaic de tipus d&#8217;ecosistemes al llarg de tota la serralada. <br><br>Enquestes repetides a gran escala, realitzades des de 1987 a intervals aproximadament decennals, han proporcionat una visi\u00f3 sin\u00f2ptica sense precedents d&#8217;aquests ecosistemes. Revelen no nom\u00e9s la variabilitat espacial natural de les condicions dels llacs, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 tend\u00e8ncies temporals emergents vinculades a l&#8217;escalfament clim\u00e0tic, la deposici\u00f3 atmosf\u00e8rica i altres factors ambientals a escala regional. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6ad6456 elementor-widget
