Maria Bayerl completes her Erasmus+ traineeship at LOOP

After six months at IDAEA, Erasmus+ trainee Maria Bayerl returns to Munich, leaving her mark on LOOP!

After six months at IDAEA, Erasmus+ trainee Maria Bayerl is saying goodbye to LOOP and heading back to Munich.

During her stay, Maria supported LOOP’s regular field campaigns and carried out an independent research project measuring greenhouse gas exchange between soils and the atmosphere in high-mountain environments. Her work compared two contrasting soil types: the organic soils found in peatlands and the more widespread mineral soils. This research is part of the broader DRYLAND project, funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) under the Plan Nacional.

Maria’s enthusiasm, initiative and eagerness to get involved have made her a wonderful member of the team. Thank you for all your hard work, Maria—you are always welcome back at LOOP!
